The U.S. Scouting Service Project is a non-commercial site(http://usscouts.org/). It has a huge store of information in several different areas and links galore. This should be your first stop. You will also find a URL list for councils and units. That particular resource is only a small portion of what is here. The “Internet Info” page (http://usscouts.org/internet/index.html) contains a small but valuable group of Internet teaching materials. In particular you may wish to review the page on Web site construction (http://usscouts.org/internet/buildasite.html -- Building Your own Web Page). One of the large files, entitled “Internet Scouting Resources Training Package” (PDF and two Word® formats), is a College of Commissioner Science thesis (1998) by Dr. Michael F. Bowman. His paper is another great overview of the World Wide Web in the context of Scouting. He is an Assistant District Commissioner, George Washington District, National Capital Area Council. Dr. Bowman is the Webmaster for the Department of the Navy.
The MacScouter (http://www.macscouter.com/) online resource is a well- visited, award winning Web site. The main site contains advancement rank information, as well as merit badge resources links. Dr. Michael Kauffmann maintains the site.
The InterNETional Scouting and Guiding Resources page is an index of that site's lists of international URLs which have abundant program information (http://users.scoutnet.nl/~inter/).Scouter Magazine Web site (http://www.scouter.com/). For example, “enjoy the vast resources of our web site by visiting the . . . SCOUTER Net Compass. Thousands of resources . . . links to everything Scouting related on the Net and Scouting Discussion List archives.” The Brunton Compass Company officially sponsors the Scouter Net Compass. It has no affiliation with the BSA or Girl Scouts of the USA.

The Pine Tree Web (http://www.pinetreeweb.com/) is a similar, more extensive effort for all Scouting. The site is available in four languages. It comes highly recommended. This site is a collection of links to his pages prepared for the "Pine Tree Web" as well as to related links on Scouting. The focus is his personal interests in Scouting which include: leadership development, the heritage, history and traditions of Scouting, and International Scouting, with a particular emphasis on Scouting in Eastern Europe and Russia.
Jim Speir’s Canadian Scouting resource guide (http://www.melborponsti.com/scouts/) contained many great ideas. It was worth the visit, but is now gone. However, the official Nova Scotia Scouting Web site (http://www.ns.scouts.ca/membersh.htm) is a tremendous source of membership and retention ideas.
